Here we are in Niagara Falls, ON!

Friday was our first full day of the Youth Council Meeting.

We brainstormed objectives for the various Youth Council committees, got information about the National Youth Project, met members of the Youth Synod, and developed an action plan on how to better support the justgeneration Diocesan Ambassadors (jDAs). After all that, we capped off the night as guests to an indigenous drumming circle.

Saturday morning, doing the PWRDF Mapping Exercise with Suzanne Rumsey and the Niagara Youth Synod.

The Mapping Exercise helps us to un-learn the myth that Canada was an empty, “undiscovered” land before European colonialism. It (re)introduces participants to a few of the many indigenous nations and cultures on this land, and also allows us to think about how we each came to be here.

We were able to share, and reflect on matters like land rights, reconciliation, belonging, and how we can all better educate ourselves and be in true solidarity.

Sunday – Parish visits.

The Youth Council members all spoke at parishes in the Niagara Diocese – St James and St Brendan, and St. John The Evangelist.  You can watch video of them preaching, here.

That’s it from your Youth Council!
