Volunteer: Mapping Exercise Facilitator

The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) is the Anglican Church of Canada’s agency for sustainable development and relief. Through the support of Anglican parishes across Canada, PWRDF makes financial and human resources available to partners around the world working to improve health, food security, and livelihoods for vulnerable people.

PWRDF is recruiting Mapping Exercise facilitators. The facilitator of PWRDF’s Mapping Exercise, “Mapping the Ground We Stand On,” helps PWRDF demonstrate its commitment to supporting the findings of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and work towards its strategic priority of strengthening relationships with Indigenous communities. They do this by facilitating “Mapping the Ground We Stand On” workshops in person and online. This role requires excellent presentation, group facilitation, and listening skills.

We are looking for candidates based in the dioceses of Islands and Inlets, Rupert’s Land, Huron and Niagara, and Nova Scotia/PEI, but we would welcome applications from other dioceses as we try to meet workshop requests in the four ecclesiastical provinces.

Please see the complete position description that details what this volunteer position involves.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the PWRDF “education for reconciliation” workshop “Mapping the Ground We Stand On” for either in-person or online groups.
  • Communicate with workshop hosts, i.e., parishes, to coordinate the pre-workshop promotion, participant communication, and logistics.
  • Ensure that the venue is prepared in advance of in-person workshops.
  • Coordinate the registration process, participant communication, and Zoom meetings for online workshops.
  • Arrange for the participation of an Indigenous witness where possible.
  • Coordinate follow-up communications with participants, including the evaluation survey.
  • Assist PWRDF staff in promoting the mapping exercise within your network and Ecclesiastical Province.
  • Maintain communication with PWRDF staff through e-mail follow-up, tracking the workshops you are facilitating, and participating in periodic Facilitators’ meetings.
