This worship resource provides an opportunity to reflect on God’s creation, and to hold up in prayer the work of PWRDF and its partners in that creation as together, we seek to keep covenant for climate justice.
Two orders of worship are offered, one a Holy Eucharist and the other A Service of the Word. Each of these orders of worship can be used in whole or in part. Also provided is a series of appendices offering options for collects, an alternate prayer of confession and the Lord’s Prayer, PWRDF stories and a sample sermon. We invite you to choose hymns appropriate to your congregational tradition and needs.
This resource is ideal for services that centre around the theme of Creation Care and would tie in with Earth Day (April 22), Rogation Sunday (May 17, 2020) or during the Season of Creation (September 1 to October 4), but these are not hard and fast dates. Use the materials whenever they work for your church. During the COVID-19 pandemic and closure of churches to public worship, we invite you to consider using the resource in whole or in part in any live-streaming or recorded services, Bible studies or prayer groups.
However you are able to use it, we’d love to know! If you use your PWRDF Sunday as an opportunity to take up a special offering for PWRDF, you can also order some donation envelopes and other resources featuring the work of PWRDF at pwrdf.org/resources.
