The Rev. Patrick Stephens

Diocese of Ottawa

Patrick grew up in the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa. After graduating from Algonquin College and becoming a Registered Practical Nurse, he volunteered for a year with the Mennonite Central Committee as a Serving and Learning Together (SALT) participant in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. During that time, Patrick received Bengali language training, supported local development and peace efforts, and received exposure to some very practical elements of international development work.

Upon his return to Canada, Patrick began working as a palliative home-care nurse, while also discerning a call to ordained ministry. He attended seminary at St. Paul University, then Vancouver School of Theology, and was ordained in 2012. As a priest, he has served parishes in the City of Ottawa and along the St. Lawrence Seaway. He now serves as incumbent of the Parish of St. Barnabas in Deep River. Patrick is a long-time supporter of PWRDF and has been a member of the Diocese of Ottawa’s PWRDF Working Group since 2012. He became the Ottawa Diocesan Representative in 2020.

Patrick is always interested in learning about other cultures and religious perspectives. In his spare time, he enjoys camping, hiking, canoeing, and generally spending time outdoors with his family.
