Stephen Kohner
Diocese of Quebec
Born and raised in Montréal and having completed an undergraduate degree in Anthropology at McGill University and a post-graduate diploma in Education from Bishop’s University, Stephen’s teaching career took him to the Naskapi’s First Nation community of Kawawachikamach where he taught for six years before moving to Baie-Comeau in 1993. As a cradle Anglican, he became involved with the local Anglican Church and became their lay incumbent soon after. His full-time position was that of a teacher at the English school in Baie-Comeau and later principal. Partnerships continue to be a key factor in Stephen’s work and vocation and he is involved in a multitude of community organizations. Stephen is currently Secretary of Synod, Secretary of Church Society, Rural Dean of the North Shore, a volunteer with the Anglican Foundation of Canada and continues in his role as the lay incumbent for his single-point parish of 12-15 parishioners. Stephen is a lifelong photographer, an avid reader and enjoys dabbling in ethnographic-type work when the opportunity arises.
