On August 16, 2015, typhoon Goni (known locally in the Philippines as Ineng) made landfall in the Central Luzon area of the Philippines.  The area, which had already been affected by heavy rains in the wake of typhoon Maring, became untenable.  The entire population of one community, Barangay Tamac—265 families, or more than 1300 people—had to evacuate because of the threat of landslides.

PWRDF has responded through its partner, Cordillera Disaster Response & Development Services (CorDis).  In coordination with the Philippine Regional Office of Civil Defense, Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Agriculture, CorDis has helped in the evacuation, provided temporary shelters, and helped to provide relief goods.

CorDis will provide rice, beans, sardines, cooking oil, salt and sugar to 265 vulnerable families in the region, as well as soap, tooth paste and toothbrushes, school materials, and plastic sheets to provide temporary shelter.  PWRDF has committed $11,195 to provide these relief goods for the families.
