PWRDF Sends Funds for Pakistan Flood Relief

PWRDF has sent an initial grant of $20,000 through the ACT Alliance for relief work after severe flooding in Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan, and parts of Kashmir.
Torrential monsoon rains have killed or injured over 500 people in Punjab, Pakistani-administered Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan Province. Thousands of houses have been damaged or destroyed, and schools and other community buildings have also been affected. Crops and clean water sources have also been badly damaged. Roads and communication infrastructure have left thousands of people without enough food and vulnerable.
Families like that of Noor Jan, a wife and mother of four from Bagh District in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, have lost everything. “Eating and living under the open sky is the most difficult experience of my life. We have lost our house, clothing, bedding, and everything in a sudden wave of floods two days ago,” she said. Following the destruction of their home, the family lives in an open place along the road.
The ACT response will provide:
- Food to 14,800 people, including flour, rice, pulses (legumes), cooking oil, sugar, salt, and tea
- Clothing, bedding, and other household items to 7400 people
- Shelter kits to 400 families
- Mobile health care facilities to care for 22,200 people
