El Salvador: Pew Bulletin Story 2000

For Canadian youth, popular radio usually means the latest hit songs.  For youth in Ciudad Victoria, El Salvador, it means local news and music and a place to express the voice of the people.  Partly through the support of PWRDF, these young people broadcast throughout the region.  Radio Victoria stands for democratic communications in a world where the media is increasingly run by the few and the poweful.  It is building democratic pride and dignity, both for the region and for the young organizers who make the station run.
