The Kasenga rural settlement is situated 51 kilometers east of Lusaka and has a population of 16,000 people. Currently the nearest health centre is 16 kilometers away from the settlement, a long way to go, especially for pregnant women who cannot afford to pay for a taxi. Women have given birth on the side of the road while travelling to the health clinic and some deaths have even occurred on the way to the health Facility. The Anglican Diocese of Lusaka has built a health facility in the settlement, however it cannot be opened until an incinerator is built because of requirements from the Ministry of Health. PWRDF has partnered with the Diocese to build the incinerator and open the health facility benefitting the entire population of the settlement.
