The situation of COVID-19 in the southern part of the country (Lindi, Mtwara and Ruvuma) where the Diocese covers is not as worrisome as in major centres like Dar-es-Salaam and Arusha. However, everyone is taking precautions as advised by health professionals.
The Diocese is also promoting awareness to the church community and other populations it serves.
Health care facilities have also bought some medical equipment for checking symptoms of coronavirus to support the protection efforts. They are distributing relief food and commodities to 29 health facilities. Bishop James Almasi is in Kilwa to receive relief food (maize flour and beans) and other commodities including blankets as a contribution from the Christian Council of Tanzania for the flood affected communities. They are also planning to distribute the medical equipment and supplies from Monday next week
