18 days, 1300 kilometers, a 50th anniversary, a bike named Olive, and a dedicated PWRDF staff member.

These are the ingredients for “Le Tour de PWRDF,” an awareness and fundraising bike ride being planned by Suzanne Rumsey, PWRDF’s Public Engagement Coordinator.  Her ride will mark the official closing of PWRDF’s 50th anniversary celebrations at General Synod in Halifax this June.

“For PWRDF, for our partners and for the planet,” is how Suzanne describes her reasons for planning the ride from Halifax to Ste Anne de Bellevue in Quebec, the site of General Synod 1959 where PWRDF was officially created. “Biking is a good, environmentally sound way to get around, and will enable me to raise funds and raise awareness about PWRDF along the way.”

Suzanne will depart from St. Mary’s University, Halifax on June 9. En route, she plans to stop at parishes interested in hearing more about the work of PWRDF, and hopes to find individuals along the way who would be willing to host her for an evening. Biking enthusiasts with a roadworthy bike and helmet are invited to join Suzanne for part or all of the ride.

If you are interested in inviting Suzanne to visit your community, want to ride along with her, or would like to help support Le Tour de PWRDF, please contact Christine Hills at (416)924-9199 ext. 325 or by e-mail [email protected].  You can also donate online to support Suzanne in her ride.

Stay tuned for more information, including how you and your parish can be involved in supporting Le Tour de PWRDF!
