Diocese of the Yukon
Valerie Maier recently retired as a teacher and has launched a new career. She and her husband Charles
have moved to the Diocese of Yukon as part of the Bishop’s ‘Ministry of Presence’ program where they will spend one or more years in parish ministry. She brings to her new diocese extensive experience promoting the work of PWRDF as Parish representative, Ride for Refuge, Poverty Challenge, KAIROS, Truth and Reconciliation Commission event in Ottawa. Of special interest to PWRDF is her advocacy on behalf of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank on food justice issues.
Valerie has a Master of Education degree from the University of Ottawa on assessment and evaluation of programs combined with a personal interest and knowledge of environmental, science and health issues. She offers experience in program planning, advocacy, strategic planning, communications, and human resources management.
