PWRDF has committed $25,000 to the ACT Alliance‘s relief efforts in Haiti after tropical storm Isaac crossed the country on August 24.  The storm’s heavy rains caused severe flooding, and damaged crops, houses, schools, and other buildings.  To date, 19 people have been reported as killed and 6 more are missing.  New outbreaks of cholera have also been reported since the storm.

PWRDF is working with the Lutheran World Federation (LWF)’s Haiti office and other ACT Alliance members to provide hygiene kits, cholera medicine and prevention, and livelihood support for those who have lost their crops, livestock, and homes.
