Reverend Valerie Isaac

Diocese of Moosonee

Valerie was born and raised in Nottingham, England, attending St. Ann’s, the local church. There she began her faith journey encouraged by her father, by her Sunday school teacher and her Brown Owl. On arriving in Canada in 1965, Valerie and her father seemed to be an oddity at the local Anglican Church and as such, seemed ostracised. When she met her future husband Ron, his mom suggested attending church in Stayner with the new rector in place. After marrying and moving to the northern Ontario town of Kapuskasing, Valerie became involved at St. Mark’s Anglican Church where she started reading lessons and prayers and joined the choir. As time went along Valerie was invited to become a lay reader in the parish of St. Mark’s and stayed there for more than 20 years before accepting God’s call to become ordained. Valerie is wife, mother of three and three in-laws, as well as eight grandchildren.
