Two consecutive seasons of drought have brought Somalia close to the conditions it endured in 2011, which led to the deaths of 250,000 people. If the situation worsens and famine is declared, the number of deaths is expected to surpass those figures. When ACT Alliance issued a $5 million appeal for one year last month, PWRDF immediately contributed an initial grant of $30,000, followed by another $35,000. By the end of April, Finn Church Aid had supported clean water for an estimated 300 households in Balli Cilmi community, and an estimated 800 households in Goroy Ood. FCA is adjusting activities based on the conditions, priorities and needs.
