PWRDF has created the following types of worship resources for use in parishes, with groups, or in individual times of prayer and worship:
Emergency Bulletin Inserts
When major disasters happen, PWRDF prepares bulletin inserts for parishes to use to encourage Anglicans to pray and to donate to the relief efforts. Download the bulletin insert for Hurricane Matthew relief for use on October 23, 2016.
These sample sermons can be used “as is” or can serve as inspiration for linking the good news stories of PWRDF with the Good News we present in sermons and homilies. Our first sermon was used on World Food Day 2015.
Alison Longson, Diocesan representative in Calgary, preached this sermon using a slide show to illustrate the stories she shared.
Suzanne Rumsey, our Public Engagement Program Coordinator, preached this sermon on refugees.
You can listen to Simon Chambers’ (PWRDF’s Communications Coordinator) sermon on June 5, 2016) here .
Each month PWRDF publishes a new, brief story showing the impact of your donations– how you are able to help change lives of people and communities around the world through PWRDF.
December 1 is World AIDS Day each year. PWRDF has created worship and other resources for you to use on the Sunday closest to December 1, or whenever is appropriate in the worship life of your community.
October 16 is World Food Day. PWRDF offers a Eucharist setting to help you celebrate World Food Day and to reflect on the importance of food security. This year we partnered with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank to present this worship resource that can be used for WFD or any time. You can also download the 2014 or 2015 orders of service.
PWRDF prepared 55 weeks of reflections and prayers based on the readings for Year A and Advent of Year B. These reflections can be used in individual prayer and meditation, or with a Bible study or other group.
Canadian Foodgrains Bank Worship Resource
PWRDF has partnered with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank to co-brand CFGB’s new worship resource, “Welcoming the Stranger.” The resource is designed to help gropus “pray, give, learn, and advocate on conflict, migration, refugees and food security.” While designed to mark World Refugee Day on June 20, the resource can be used in part or in whole at any other time of the year. The “Give” section of the resource features PWRDF’s food assistance work in South Sudan. The resource is available for download in both a full colour and a black and white (text only) black and white (text only) format.
If you have any questions about this resource, please contact Suzanne Rumsey, Public Engagement Program Coordinator.
