Ride for Refuge
PWRDF has joined the Ride for Refuge, a national fundraising program encouraging people to form or join a team and ride in one of 31 locations across Canada to raise funds for their charity of choice.
This year PWRDF will pedal to provide community health workers in Africa with bicycles. Part nurse, part social worker, part friend, part advocate, part educator, part nutritionist- community health workers are the backbone of PWRDF health programs in hundreds of villages around the world. Community health workers visit, advise and teach pregnant women throughout their pregnancies and after they give birth. A bicycle allows a worker to visit more pregnant women and mothers of young children in the communities where they live.
All of the funds raised will be matched by the Government of Canada 6:1, so every $100 raised will become $700 towards helping mothers and babies thrive!
