June 13 Story: Nets to fight Malaria

Malaria is a mosquito transmitted disease which kills approximately 1 million people a year, mostly children under the age of five. Through community theatr,e  community health workers teach the community about the benefits of having good environmental sanitation, the use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets, how to dispose of garbage and to treat stagnant waters where the mosquito grows.  When an insecticide-treated net is properly used it cuts the malaria transmission rate by 50% and children’s deaths by 20%.

Your donation of $10 can purchase an insecticide-treated net to protect a family from malaria for approximately 5 years.
