China earthquake relief

As of July 10th, Canadian Anglicans have raised $130,220 for earthquake relief in China.  The demanding work of assisting survivors continues.  PWRDF has received an update from our colleagues on the ground, the Amity Foundation, an implementing member of the Action By Churches Together International alliance.
The “shopping list” from their report paints a grim picture of what people have faced  since the devastating events of May 12th:
80,160 bottles of water,
28,800 instant noodle,
27,200 sausages,
35.2 tons of cooking oil,
374 tons of rice,
13,800 quilts
22,350 sheets of plastic sheeting
and it goes on…

Relief assistance has included areas of: Mianyang, Beichuan, Mianzhu, Dujiangyan, Pengzhou, Shifang, Wenchuan, Mao County, Ningqiang, Lveyang and Wen County.

Amity reports that their next work team in the Sichuan region will take on the subsequent phase of rehabilitation and reconstruction work including house rebuilding, reconstruction of water system, schools and village clinics, as well as training activities in affected villages.

Thank you for your generous donations to the relief effort.  Please continue to keep the people of the Sichuan region in your prayers.
