For Immediate Release

July 21, 2006–On Saturday, August 12, 2006 The Primateâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) and the Anglican Church of Canada, will launch an HIV and AIDS photo exhibition titled Facing AIDS, Facing Reality to mark the beginning of the XVI International AIDS Conference. The launch will take place at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Toronto starting at 5.30 p.m. â┚¬” 8.00 p.m.

Facing AIDS, Facing Reality aims to go beyond statistics by showing the faces of AIDS and linking personal stories with a global perspective through photography. The project is a joint effort of the Communications and Information Resources Department of the Anglican Church of Canada and PWRDF. It challenges the Anglican community and all Canadians to stop the stigma and stand in solidarity with others working to renew Godâ┚¬Ã¢”ž¢s creation while it celebrates the great work that is being done in our church.

The exhibition consists of 16 back to back panels accompanied by a multi-layered soundtrack that animates the stories of those affected and infected by the disease and the response of PWRDF partners to the pandemic.

After its official launch (August12), the exhibition will be open to the public at the Church of the Holy Trinity until August 21 and from early September it will be available to travel throughout the 30 dioceses of the Anglican Church of Canada. It will end its journey in June 2007 at the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada in Winnipeg. All information regarding the exhibit will be available on the PWRDF website as of August 4.
